Last week we had the special honor of welcoming a group of students from Germany to Uganda. The school choir spent an eventful week in Rukararwe and took the opportunity to experience the local culture and community first hand.
After a warm welcome in Rukararwe, the students had a chance to recover from their trip and get their first impressions of the beautiful surroundings.
The visit to our partner school was a special experience. The German students spent an entire day with their penpals, shadowing them in class. They learned about the Ugandan school system and had the opportunity to make friends.
Sporting activities continued with a football match against Ruyonza School. In an exciting match, both teams showed their skills and had a lot of fun. The choir also visited the local hospital and orphanage where they not only handed over donations but also spent time with the children.
An absolute highlight of their trip was the excursion to Lake MBuro National Park. Elephants, zebras and giraffes provided unforgettable moments and educational insights into Africa’s biodiversity.
The evenings were filled with cultural exchange. The last evening was particularly memorable as German and Ugandan students danced and sang together. The musical performances and traditional dances brought both cultures closer together and created an exuberant atmosphere.
The students left Rukararwe with many new impressions, friendships and a deep connection to the local community.
